When we first met with Jon the Hoggatt Lab was just beginning to form and we had a clean slate to work with. This opened up the doors to infinite possibilities and Jon gave us total creative freedom to work. We started by designing a logo & branding for the lab,
based around the seed of life which is a universal symbol of creation, we felt this directly represented the lab & it’s goals. Using this sacred geometry & playing off of the MGH blue we hit the ground running for the labs branding. We created three Logo for different placements, A Main Logo, Light version, & finally an Icon style logo. This allows the logo to transcend all the layout possibilities.
Using the color palette we curated for the logo and branding we started in on the web design. We used WordPress as our CMS because of its solid structor, security and ability to be changed and maintained easily as the lab grows. We then worked the layout to accommodate Jon’s content while allowing space for growth. We wanted users to land on a unique page that showcase the character of the lab, then introduce them to the lab with the main video. After this the following slides offer a visual look into the lab its self and offer the user bits of content to link them in the right direction. The following layout is a classic multi-page website design & menu that is fully responsive, SEO prioritized, retina ready, and light weight for speed.
We set up 2 days of shooting, one to get portrait shots of everyone and group photos, & another day to shoot stills of the lab and facility. The idea was to show potential investors, or lab members the facility, character and life inside of the lab.
Rather than pages of text we produced videos to explain the lab, its research & the people in it. We planned 4 shoot dates to film interviews with lab members, shoot b-roll of the lab in action & the surrounding area. We then edited and revised the videos to launch with the entire website.
